How recall matching works

Minvy matches your items to recalls in two ways, depending on the item.

Vehicles If an item has a VIN, Minvy decodes it and checks it against NHTSA's recall database. These matches are exact and shown as Confirmed.

Consumer products For other items, Minvy compares the item's brand and product details against recent CPSC recalls, then uses AI to confirm whether a recall genuinely applies. These appear as Likely or Possible so you can judge borderline matches yourself.

Improving matches

• Add a vehicle's VIN for exact vehicle-recall matching.
• Give products a clear name, brand, and model.
• Add serial numbers where a recall affects only certain production runs.

Tip: A recall alert is a prompt to check the official notice — always confirm on the manufacturer's recall page before acting.
