Community Guidelines & Terms
Last updated: July 29, 2026
These Community Guidelines and Terms (the "Community Terms") govern your use of the Minvy community features: the message boards, community templates, and any other member-to-member area of the Service (together, the "Community"). They are in addition to, and form part of, the Minvy Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. Where these Community Terms and the Terms & Conditions conflict on a Community matter, these Community Terms control.
By claiming a community username, posting, replying, publishing a template, or otherwise participating, you agree to these Community Terms. If you do not agree, do not participate — the rest of Minvy remains fully available to you.
1. Your username and your privacy
- Participation requires a community username. Your username — never your email address — is shown on everything you post or publish. We do not display your email address to other members.
- Your username is unique, and for now it is permanent: choose one you are comfortable being known by. Contact us if you have a serious reason to need it changed.
- Do not use a username that impersonates another person, a business, or Minvy staff, or that is offensive.
- Anything you post is visible to every signed-in Minvy member. Treat the Community as public. Do not post anything you would not want strangers to read, and consider that posts may remain visible after you delete your account.
- Never post information that identifies where your property is or how it is protected — home addresses, policy or account numbers, serial numbers, security-system details, photographs of documents, or images that show valuables together with an identifiable location. This is a home-inventory community; that information is exactly what you are here to protect.
2. Behave decently
Participation is a privilege, not a right. You agree that you will not:
- Harass, threaten, bully, stalk, or intimidate anyone, or encourage others to do so.
- Post hate speech or attack anyone on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
- Post sexually explicit, violent, or gratuitously disturbing content, or anything involving the exploitation of minors.
- Make it personal: disagree with the post, not the person. Insults, name-calling, and pile-ons are removable whether or not they trip our filters.
- Dox anyone — do not post another person's private information (including their real name, address, workplace, phone number, or images of them) without their consent.
- Impersonate any person or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation with one.
- Spam: advertising, referral or affiliate links, repetitive posting, bulk messaging, recruiting, or off-topic promotion of a product or service.
- Post content that is illegal, that offers stolen, counterfeit, recalled, hazardous, or otherwise prohibited goods, or that facilitates fraud.
- Infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, or other rights, including by posting text or photographs that are not yours to post.
- Attempt to break, probe, or overload the Service, evade a ban or removal (including by creating another account), scrape the Community, or use bots or automation to post.
- Post another member's private correspondence, or content you obtained from a private share, without permission.
We screen submissions automatically for slurs and profanity. Automated screening is imperfect and is not a substitute for these rules: content that passes the filter can still be removed, and content the filter blocks or masks is not thereby endorsed.
3. Your content, and the licence you give us
You keep ownership of what you post. By posting in the Community you grant Minvy LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt (for formatting), and distribute your post within the Service and in materials promoting the Service, for as long as we operate the Community and for a reasonable period afterwards for backup and legal-record purposes.
You represent that you have the rights to what you post, and that your post does not violate these Community Terms or anyone's rights.
Deleting your posts. You may delete your own posts and replies at any time. A deletion hides the content from other members; a copy may persist in backups and in our moderation records, and quotations of your post by other members may remain. Deleting a thread you started does not delete other members' replies to it.
4. We do not monitor, verify, or endorse posts
The Community is member-generated content. Minvy LLC does not routinely monitor posts before they appear, does not verify them, and does not endorse them. We are not responsible or liable for the content, accuracy, completeness, usefulness, safety, or legality of anything a member posts, or for any loss or damage resulting from your reliance on it. Opinions expressed are those of the member who posted them, not of Minvy LLC.
We have no obligation to monitor the Community, and the fact that we sometimes remove content does not create a duty to remove any other content or to act within any particular time.
5. Not professional advice
Nothing in the Community is professional advice.
- Insurance. Discussion of coverage, documentation, valuations, deductibles, or claims is members sharing experience — not insurance, legal, tax, or financial advice, and not a representation about what any policy covers. Coverage is determined solely by your policy and your insurer. Confirm anything that matters with your own insurer, agent, or a licensed professional before you rely on it.
- Disaster preparedness and safety. Preparedness, fire, flood, storm, and earthquake discussion is general information, not emergency, engineering, medical, or safety advice. In an emergency, follow the instructions of your local authorities and emergency services.
- Valuations. Any figure a member quotes for an item is an opinion, not an appraisal.
6. Trades, exchanges, and dealings between members
The Trade & Exchange board (and any other member-to-member arrangement) exists so members can find each other. Minvy LLC is not a party to, broker of, escrow for, or guarantor of any transaction between members. We do not verify members, items, condition, ownership, authenticity, value, or the ability or willingness of anyone to complete a deal. We provide no payment, shipping, insurance, or dispute-resolution service for member trades.
Any arrangement you enter with another member is entirely at your own risk and your own responsibility, including compliance with any applicable law, tax, licensing, or reporting obligation. Take sensible precautions: meet in public places, do not share personal or financial details, verify before you pay, and never send money or goods to someone you cannot verify. You release Minvy LLC from any claim arising out of a member-to-member transaction.
7. Reporting and moderation
- Every post has a Report control. Use it for content that breaks these Community Terms. Reports go to Minvy staff and are not shown to the member you reported.
- Do not use reports to retaliate or to silence disagreement.
- If you believe content infringes your copyright or trademark, or if you need to reach us about a legal matter, email support@minvy.ai with enough detail to identify the content and your claim.
- Minvy staff — verified @minvy.ai accounts — may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice: remove, hide, or edit content; lock a thread to stop further replies; archive a thread so it stays readable but closed; suspend or permanently ban a member's Community access; and refuse a username or a published template.
- A Community ban affects the Community only. Your inventory, your data, your sync, and your subscription are unaffected, and you keep full use of the rest of Minvy.
- Enforcement is not a judicial process. We aim to be fair and consistent, and to explain our reasoning where we sensibly can, but we do not owe you a hearing, an appeal, or a reason. If you think we have made a mistake, email support@minvy.ai.
- We may preserve and disclose content and account information where we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or that it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Minvy, our members, or the public.
8. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to participate in the Community, consistent with Section 2 of the Terms & Conditions.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Community is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Minvy LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, property, or opportunity, arising out of or relating to the Community — including content posted by members, reliance on that content, member-to-member dealings, or the removal or retention of any content. The limitations and exclusions in the Terms & Conditions apply equally here.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Minvy LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your posts or your participation in the Community.
10. Changes to these Community Terms
We may update these Community Terms. When we make material changes, we will bump the version and ask you to review and accept them before your next post. Your continued participation after acceptance means you agree to the updated Community Terms. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
